This project focuses on redesigning my grandparents’ living room to better align with their lifestyle, disabilities, and personal preferences. I aimed to identify and improve subpar design elements to create a space that goes beyond the casual standard of functionality. The redesign prioritizes ergonomic furniture, wider walking spaces, improved lighting, and additional organizational storage. The design incorporates anthropometric data and my grandparents’ input to ensure the space meets their needs while reflecting their desired aesthetic; a bright, warm, and cozy atmosphere. The room features white walls and furniture to maximize brightness, complemented by warm wood tones to add depth and a sense of comfort. The goal is to create a harmonious space that blends functionality, comfort, and an inviting environment for conversation.
